  1. Velcro – The best thing about velcro, for the wear and care of your wooden furniture, is that it is cost-effective. The majority of us have furniture that is fixed in one place. So, you can use the peel-off velcro and essentially stick the items of furniture to one place. 
  2. Rugs – Who wouldn’t want a cloud rug to relax your feet in after a long day. They’re a great idea for avoiding your furniture from sliding, it’s just a bonus that it is a great accessory as well as a fun element to your home.

New furniture often gives out a particular odor that not many people like, it may be the polish smell or even the wood smell. There are a few ways to reduce the smell, as wear and care of your wooden furniture. 

Some smells may be easier to reduce and remove, or some may take a long time. Here are a few remedies that you can try : 

  1. Try a commercial cleaner – You’ll get many smell cleaners that are available in the market, which you can try using. Just dab some on a soft cloth, and rub over your furniture. 
  2. Try vinegar and water – If you want to try some DIY, then mix equal parts water and vinegar, soak a soft clean cloth in it and rub over your furniture. This may or may not give you results, but do try it out! 
  3. Try Lemon Oil – Lemon oil is an effective solution to eliminating smoke odor. 
  4. Try Bleach and Water – A fair warning, use gloves if you’re trying this out. Mix 1 tablespoon bleach to 10 tablespoons of water. Soak the cloth in the solution and wipe over your furniture. Let it air dry, and voila – less new furniture smells!

Many people particularly like the old wooden furniture look, as it gives your home a vintage look. If you cannot find good vintage furniture which suits your pocket as well as your aesthetics, then try getting new furniture and aging it! 

You can try some wood aging solution or even plain old tea, just paint it over your furniture and let it dry. Your wood would age before your eyes, and hurray! It fits your aesthetics and pocket!
